Jimmie Zero McBride, 93, of Port Arthur, Texas, passed away Friday, August 06, 2010. Jimmie was a Port Arthur native, born on March 30, 1917, and remained in Port Arthur until her death. She graduated from Port Arthur High School in 1937 and married Henry Norvel McBride that same year. They remained married for fifty years, devoted to each other until his death. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Port Arthur almost her entire life. She began attending services there when she was nine years old, 84 years ago. Love of church, love of family and love of friends were the defining principles of her life. Jimmie was preceded in death by her husband, H.N. McBride, parents, Tinnye and Anthony Zero, brother, Bill Zero and great-grandsons Mark and Andrew Porter. Surviving relatives include her daughters, Janice Blanchard and husband Cal of Port Neches, Pat Sierra and husband Salvador of Groves, Judy Kennard and husband Will of Conroe, grandchildren Cammie Allen of Groves, Jodi Newman and husband Dariel of Pearland, Jan Self of La Marque, Karen Mullins and husband Jason of Arlington, Ricky Radley and wife Marisa of Corpus Christi and Tony Radley of Port Arthur. She was also survived by six great-grandchildren; Michael Newman, Jared Newman, Kristen Newman, Tyler Mullins, Bailey Mullins and Daniel Porter. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Monday, August 9, 2010. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Services will be officiated by Rev. Scott Wallace of First Christian Church of Port Arthur and Rev Dariel Newman of One Church, a United Methodist Church, of Pearland. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Cemetery, Port Neches. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Jimmie McBride to First Christian Church, Port Arthur.
