Delos A. Talbert, Sr., age 100 of Kountze, Texas passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2010. He was born on March 11, 1910 in Felixville, La. to Louis P. and Florence Jackson Talbert. He was a resident of the Port Arthur/Groves area since 1930 and moved to Kountze in 2006.Delos had been a welder for the Gulf Oil Corp. for 35 years. He was affiliated with the Procter Baptist Church in Port Arthur and the Pinecrest Baptist Church in Silsbee. He was valedictorian of his graduating class, a Baptist Sunday school teacher and deacon for over 65 years, and was also an avid outdoorsman and published author. Delos was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Lucy Earl Talbert, grandson David Talbert, his three brothers and three sisters. He is survived by sons, Delos A. Talbert, Jr. of Clinton, La., Tim Talbert and his wife Dina of Baytown, Tx. and Ken Talbert and his wife Debbie of Clinton, La., his daughters, Linda Lierman and her husband Don of Phoenix, Az., Sallie Landry and her husband Alton of Houston, Tx. and Ada Felps and her husband Terry of Kountze, Tx. He is also survived by his grandchildren, JohnLierman, Anne Grady, Ellen Alcazar, Robert Landry, Michael Landry, Jason Talbert, Melanie Talbert, Caren Felps, Laura Talbert, Jamie Toups, Jonathan Talbert and Nicholas Talbert along with 9 great grandchildren.
