"Buddy" Burt John Lee, Jr. of Port Arthur, TX, peacefully passed away at his home after a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday September 28, 2010. He was born on May 24, 1934, to Myrtis Morgan Lee & Burt John Lee, Sr. As a native of Port Arthur, Burt was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and Lamar University, Beaumont with a BA in Business Administration. He was an honor graduate of the School of Banking at Southern Methodist University, Dallas. He served eight years in the United States Army, two of which were active duty. His banking career spanned 27 years which included First National Bank, Port Arthur; Merchant's National Bank, Port Arthur, Sabine National Bank, Port Arthur, First State Bank and Trust of Groves, and Peoples State Bank, Sheppard, TX. He worked 20 years at Jefferson County Drainage District 7. The last sixteen years he served as manager and retired in 2008. His civic activities include serving on the Port Arthur Independent School District school board and while involved in Cavoi1cade served one year as Commodore of Cavoi1cade. Survivors include his daughter, Allison Lee Nixon, and husband, Paul, of Grand Cayman Islands; son, Burt John Lee, III, of Fort Worth, TX; granddaughter, Bree Nixon of Grand Cayman Islands; two sisters Mable Lee Handel of Nederland, and Cloris Lee Moser and husband, Darnell of Nederland; two nieces Christie Moser James and Cindy Moser Ja and two nephews Glenn Handel and Gary Handel. He was preceded in death by his mother, Myrtis Morgan Lee, father, Burt John Lee, Sr., and sister, Elva Rue Lee Martin.
