Katie E. Norment

September 20, 1919 - October 5, 2010

Katie E. Norment of Mauriceville and formerly long time Port Arthur resident, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at The Meadows of Orange. Born September 20, 1919, in Jourdanton, Texas, to Bruce and Burtress Furgason Phillips, she was retired after many years with C. Flanagan Steamship Agency. Katie was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mauriceville and a former faithful member of St. Mark's First United Methodist Church of Port Arthur, where she was a choir member and very active in all other church activities. Katie was also a proud volunteer with the United Board of Missions for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, three sisters, daughter in law, Delores Norment and husband, Jimmy Norment, Sr. Survivors include son Jimmy Norment, Jr. of Mauriceville, grandchildren, James A. "Trey" Norment, III, and Jodi Ann Vela and husband Carlos, Great grandchildren, Carli and Keely Shae Vela and Matthew Partida Norment.
