Leroy Frank Bertrand was born on June 28th, 1920 to Frank Bertrand and Nita Mestayer. He was one of four children. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army and was involved in the European Theater. He has been married to his wife, Catherine, for sixty-three years. He began his career at the Gulf refinery and retired from Chevron as a supervisor after 41 years of service. He was a member of VFW Post #797 and a lifetime member of the Port Arthur Evening Sertoma Club. He was also a member of St. James Catholic Church of Port Arthur. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Steven Bertrand and his daughter, Marion "Ginger" Worrell. He is survived by his wife, Catherine, sister, Cecile Cheramie (Thomas), son, Paul (Debra), daughters, Jean Rantz (Leroy) and Anita Marcos, cousin, Carmen Letulle (Tommy). He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Leroy lived a happy, fulfilling life.
