Gladys A."Ms.Pat" Smith. 88 took her last breath Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011 at Oak Grove Nursing Home in Groves. She was born in Smokey Mountains of east Tennessee on December 12, 1922 to Christopher Columbus "Kit" Honeycutt and Lillie Randolph Honeycutt. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Logan Smith, brothers, Ward and Arvel Honeycutt and sister Marvel Honeycutt Sanders. She graduated as valedictorian of her high school and won several honors in her higher education at the Baptist seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Her work varied from drugstore clerk to FBI special agent for J. Edgar Hoover. After, the war, she came to Port Arthur to work for North End Baptist Church. "Ms. Pat" worked with the youth group and did office duties. She could recall every name, address and phone number of every member. She married James Patrick "Pat" Smith. She was a staunch supporter of Groves-Port Neches football team, she made thousands of good hamburgers at Pat's Grill on Pure Atlantic Highway and answered the phone for Groves Plumbing for over 25 years. She never met a stranger and loved to share information with others. She remained busy taking care of several rental properties until the last two years of her life and enjoyed going to her church, visiting friends and family. "Ms. Pat" is survived by her son, Max Patrick and wife Tasha Smith of Groves, daughter, Jodie Smith Goodell and husband Richard of The Woodlands. Two grandchildren, Nathan "Buck" Smith and Aimee Lee Goodell.
