Joseph David Guidry "J.D", 83 of Groves, Tx. joined his Lord and Savior on February 21, 2011 and was reunited with all his loved ones that have gone before him. He was born on May 18, 1927 at St Mary's Hospital Port Arthur, Texas to David and Rose Guidry. He attended St. Mary's High School and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. He served in the Army at Fort Dodd and Randolph Base in San Antonio, Texas. He received his Honorable discharge at Fort Bliss in El Paso from General Williams. He married the love of his life Erma Jean Drummond Guidry and celebrated 64 wonderful years of life together. J.D. was an avid sportsman and a renowned marksman. Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was featured many times in the Sports section of the Port Arthur news hailing him for his hunting and fishing adventures. He retired from Gulf Oil at the age of 57 as a supervisor. He was a finish carpenter. J. D. was a member of St. Peters Church and The Knights of Columbus. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 25, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. in Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Private Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park. J. D. is survived by his daughters Sandy Wiederkehr and husband Roy of Humble, Tx., Linda Ferguson and husband Tom of Houston, Tx., Debra Weaver and husband Brian of Nederland, Tx., Paula Rombs and husband Danny of Groves, Tx., grandchildren Karen Halstead, Courtney Sullivan, Jason Wiederkehr, Mikal Weaver, Adam Weaver, Patrick Robertson, Jennifer Robertson and Shelly Robertson, great-grandchildren: McKenna and Carly Sullivan, Andrus Halstead, Tanner Adams, Jaci Telles and Jadi and Mika Weaver, Nephew Howard Irion and a Niece Barbara Irion.
