Jimmie "Jim" Lamar Felder of Hemphill, TX, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2011 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. He was born July 9, 1935 to Clayton Lamar Felder and Celeste Miller Felder in Port Arthur, TX. Jim has been a resident of Hemphill for over 20 years and lived in Port Arthur for over 50 years prior to relocating. Jim retired from Gulf Oil as an electrician after 32 years of service. He served our nation in the US Navy Reserve, enlisted, and began serving at the age of 17 while still attending high school. Jim was a member of SFOA (Southeast Football Officials Association) and refereed local football games as well as college games in Houston as well as umpired local baseball game. Jim was an avid golfer and fisherman, loved to play all types of games and loved to dance. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Groves. Visitation will be Saturday, June 4, 2011 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves, TX. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 4, 2011 with his nephew, Rev. Randy Felder officiating. Arrangements for cremation are entrusted to Clayton Thompson. Jim is preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Vaughn Lamar Felder. He is survived by his loving daughter, Karen "Lisa" Felder of Buna, Texas and the mother of his daughter, Carolyn Jordan of Buna, Texas, his brother, Robert Felder and wife Bettie of Greenville, TX, nephew, Rev. Randy Felder and his 4 children, niece, Kristina Hall and her 2 children all of Greenville, TX. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution can be made in Jim's honor to your favorite charity or organization.
