Kenneth Gene Whigham, Sr.

February 22, 1933 - July 28, 2011

Kenneth Gene Whigham, Sr., went to be with his Savior on July 28, 2011. His parents were James Frank Whigham and Reba Robinson. He was born on February 22, 1933 in Groves, Texas. Kenneth graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur, TX, in January 1952. He was employed by Gulf Oil Refinery and retired after 34 years service in 1989. He served as OCAW Workmen's Committee Chairman from 1981-1986 and was President of the Chevron/Gulf Retirees Association. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Vincent dePaul Society, and Nederland City Council Zoning Commission. Kenneth had many interests including golf, ballgames, hunting and fishing, and walking at the mall while visiting with friends. He always attended activities of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 59 years, Virginia McNamara Whigham, two sons, Charles Whigham and wife Debbie, and Ken Whigham, Jr.; two daughters, Becky and Michael Marrs, and Norma and Sam Distefano, Jr.; and grandchildren Jan Lopez and husband Shannon, Stacie Murray and Wayne Wigley, Mike Marrs, Sam Distefano and Amber Sheppard, Mary Beth Distefano, Jesse Distefano, Micah Distefano and wife Patty, Christopher Whigham and wife Megan, and Katherine Whigham. Great-grandchildren are Hannah and Gabe Lopez, Whitney, Paige, and Kendra Murray, and Daisy and Jazmin Acosta. He is also survived by his sister Frances Marr, and brother Bill Whigham and wife Evelyn. His brother Orville Whigham is deceased.
