James (Jimmy) Everett James (Jimmy) Everett, 83, of Groves, died Thursday, January 5, 2012, at his home after a lengthy illness. Born July 5, 1928, in Des Moines Iowa, Jimmy lived in this area for most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired after 25 years at the Texaco Refinery where he worked in the Shipping Department. He was an active member in the Metro Lions Club and Methodist Men. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Jimmy was an avid photographer and a member of the Photography Club at Thomas Jefferson High School in the 40s. He was a descendant of Edward Everett, Governor of Mass, who spoke before Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Arch John and Ursula Everett; aunt and uncle, Jim and Jessie Day; and uncle, Edward Everett. Jimmy is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joyce (Davis) Everett of Groves; one son, John Edward and his wife Karen of Burlington CT; three granddaughters, Brooke Everett of Simsbury CT, Blair Everett of Pleasanton CA and Lauren Everett of Burlington CT.
