Lowell H. Kirkgard

Lowell H. Kirkgard, 81, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away on Monday, January 9, 2012 at his residence. He was born on July 6, 1930 to Helen Warren Kirkgard and Millard Kirkgard in Dallas, Texas. He was a longtime resident of the area and retired from Texaco as an operator after 32 years of service. Lowell served six years in the U. S. Navy and retired from Texas National Guard as Chief Warrant Officer IV assigned to the 211Th Engineer Dredge Attachment with over 20 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Doris Opal Kirkgard. He is survived by his sons, Randy Kirkgard and wife Jackie of Port Arthur, Bruce Kirkgard and wife Judy of Nederland, Craig Kirkgard and wife Debbie "Lowell's Rock" of Port Arthur and Rodney Kirkgard and wife Belyn of Woodville, brother, John Kirkgard of Deltona, Florida, fifteen grandchildren and twenty seven great grandchildren. The family would like to give a special thanks to Southwest Home Health, Absolute Therapy, staff members of St. Mary's Hospital and Altus Hospice.
