Garnet Clayton passed peacefully from this life on May 13, 2012 at the age of 100. She was a homemaker. Born on September 7, 1911 to John Foster and Ollie Carroll Foster in Singer, Louisiana. Her father was a Deputy Sheriff and operated the local general store. Her family was early pioneers in eastern Texas and western Louisiana and the ancestry of the Eaves family can be traced in the U.S. to the early 1600's. Garnet had a love for animals and no animal ever went hungry if she was around. Garnet was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Clayton after 50 years of marriage; her parents; a brother, Bruce Foster and four sisters, Thelma Vincent, Loucille Stewart, Elaine Holt and Johnnie Foster. Garnet is survived by her sister, Merry Jo Bright of Houston, Texas; nieces and nephews, Fritz Holt, Meridel Oliver, Barbara Jones, Lavelle Arnold, Stewart Foster, Caroline Foster Castellano, Michelle Stuart and Robert Bruce Bright. Special thanks to Jack and Charlotte Etheredge and Doug and Janet Hyde for all their love and support. Funeral services will be held at Clayton-Thompson Funeral Home in Groves on Thursday, May 17, at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
