Ruth D. LeRosen, 90, died on Monday, December 24, 2012 at her residence in Port Arthur, Texas. She was a native of Shelby, Mississippi, where she graduated from Shelby High School. Ruth graduated from the Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi and later attended Stephen F. Austin University, the University of Houston and the University of Texas. When at Delta State University she was listed in Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. In her Junior and Senior years she taught in the Demonstration School. Ruth LeRosen was a retired school teacher having taught for many years at DeQueen, Tyrrell, Sims and Lee elementary schools in the Port Arthur Independent School District. She also taught pre-school classes for eight years at Saint George's Episcopal Day School. Ruth was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Port Arthur for over 50 years. She served as Pre-School Four Sunday School Director for over 25 years. She was active in Daily Vacation Bible School and participated in the Baptist Women's Missionary Union many years. Ruth was an active member of the Captain William Sanders Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Port Arthur Historical Society, the Hibiscus Study Club, the Retired Teachers Association and the Fellowship Club. Ruth will be remembered for her life of service, her many kind acts and gifts to a large group of friends. She was a generous and loving Mother and Grandmother and loved nothing better than to spend time with her family and friends. She and her husband Henry D. LeRosen were married for 55 years; he died July 31, 2000. She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Ann Brown of Houston, Texas; a son, Dixon LeRosen of Dallas, Texas; a niece and a two nephew and three grandchildren. She will also be remembered with love by her generous caregivers, Barbara Jenkins, Shirley Jordan and Pat Robinson. Funeral services will be at 11 AM on Friday, December 28, 2012 at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Kyle Morton officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
