James M. DeCourt

James Melhop DeCourt, 85 of Groves passed away on Friday, January 4, 2013 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas. James was born on November 16, 1927 in Alexandria, Louisiana to Albert and Theresa Moore DeCourt. He was a 75 year resident of the Port Arthur-Groves area and retired from Great Lakes Carbon after 37 years of service as a sales representative. He was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School class of 1947 and member of Providence Presbyterian Church. James was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Al DeCourt and granddaughter, Kristin Rushing. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Bizot DeCourt of Groves, son, Ken and his wife Deena DeCourt of Arlington, TN. daughter, Denise and her husband Gary Cluelow of Groves, sister-in-law Sherrie DeCourt of Lindale, TX, grandchildren, Tammy and husband Scott Danks, Jennifer and husband Paul Vickery, Michael DeCourt, Caryn DeCourt, Kathryn and husband Sean Laberer and Caryn DeCourt, great grandchildren, Grant, Jackson, Weston, Addie and Joshiah. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 6, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Monday, January 7, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in the Thompson Memorial Chapel of Clayton Thompson with entombment to follow in the Peace Mausoleum at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flower the family asks that contributions be made to Make-A-Wish or a charity of your choice in James memory.
