Helena Estelle Saunders

Helena Estelle Toups Saunders, 74, of Sabine Pass passed away at Cypress Glen Nursing Home in Port Arthur on Friday, January 25, 2013. She was born on November 14, 1938 to Olive Ray Shephard Toups and Clifton Toups. Helena was a lifelong resident of Sabine Pass, graduated from Sabine Pass High School and was a member of Sabine Pass United Methodist Church. She retired as a clerk after numerous years at OMS-Offshore Marine Services and later worked as security guard for Sabine Pass Port Authority. Visitation will be on Monday, January 28, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 29, 2013 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson with Rev. Kitty Key, officiating. Interment will follow at Sabine Pass Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step father, Bill Van Dorn, her sister, Mary Nell Toups and her grandson, Spec. Ryan Berg. Helena is survived by her daughter, Scottie Ray and husband Craig of Sabine Pass, her son, Adam Saunders and wife Julie of Sabine Pass, grandchildren, Brad Berg, Marissa Berg, Olivia Saunders, Reid Saunders and Avery Saunders along with her brother, Johnny Toups and wife Gusta of Sabine Pass as well as several nieces and nephews.
