Raul R. Guerra, Sr.

January 20, 1916 - January 30, 2013

Raul R. Guerra, Sr. passed away peacefully in his home to be with the Lord on January 30, 2013. He was born in Hondo, Texas on January 20, 1916 to Raymundo and Refugia Guerra. He was 97, raised in Lockhart, Tx. He lived in Port Arthur, Tx. since 1940. He went to work for Port Neches Rubber Co. then to Texaco Refinery, where he retired after 40 years of service. He was a member of local O.C.A.W. and also a member of the Eagles of Port Arthur. He also owned Guerra's Place at Fort Worth and Seventh Street from the early 60's till he retired in 1981. He enjoyed going to the local Bingo's and looked forward to his casino trips on Wednesday with Wild Cajun Club. He will be missed by his family and friends. Raul was preceded in death by his wives, Isabel Perez Guerra and Josefa Guerra, sons, Raul Guerra, Jr., Rudy Guerra and great granddaughter, Avery Anne Guerra. He is survived by his son, Juan Perez Guerra and wife Cecilia of Port Arthur, daughter, Yolanda Guerra of Beaumont, Step children, Olivia Porras and John Valdez, 7 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Friday, February 1, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 2, 2013 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson with Deacon Willie Posey, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens in Nederland.
