Laura Dubois of Cow Island area of Kaplan, Louisiana, wife of the late Minos Joseph Dubois of Henry, Louisiana, passed peacefully in her Port Arthur, Texas home surrounded by her loving family on, March 26, 2013 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Laura was born on March 24, 1928 and was 85. Laura grew up in Cow Island area of Kaplan, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Polonaire and Bernadette Menard. Laura was preceded in death by siblings Mazie Guidry, Medora Guidry, Mable Sherer, Edward Menard, Oris Menard, and Dennis Mennard all of Louisiana. Laura loved her extended "family" at Saint Joseph's Catholic church, her coffee club, friends and family, traveling, and feeding and watching the birds on her breezeway every morning. She could cook any Cajun dish and made a superb German chocolate cake. Laura simply never met a stranger and positively impacted so many people's lives. She will be greatly missed by all. Laura is survived by two siblings, Maude Menard and Annie Hebert and husband Isaac Hebert, of Louisiana. She also leaves behind her son Minos Wayne Dubois and wife Kathy Dubois of Port Arthur, Texas, her daughter Rochelle Badgett and husband David Badgett of Nederland, Texas; grandchildren Chad Dubois and wife Crystal Dubois of Port Arthur, Texas, Matthew Badgett and wife Danielle Badgett of Nederland, Texas, and Kristin Badgett of Austin, Texas. She also leaves behind two step-grandchildren Mindy Stanley Anderson and husband Joe Anderson of Lumberton, Texas and Windy Patterson and husband Charlie Patterson of Mauriceville, Texas. In addition, she leaves behind 4 great-grandchildren Kennedy Badgett, Drake Badgett, Hunter Dubois, and Rex Dubois and 7 step-great-grandchildren Sela Stanley, Sloane Stanley, Reece Anderson, Price Anderson, Tylore Ramirez, Dustyn Patterson, and Brytanee Patterson that she lovingly spoiled and adored. The family would like to thank Odyssey Hospice of Beaumont, Texas for ensuring that Laura had the best care possible and for assisting the family in such a difficult time. Laura's visitation will be on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 from 5pm to 8pm and the Rosary at 6pm at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral service will be on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 10:00 am in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson with Father Steven McCrate officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu flowers the family asks that contributions be made to Saint Joseph's Catholic Church or The Michael J. Fox Foundation For Parkinson's Research.
