Arthur Edward Hawkins

October 12, 1925 - March 26, 2013

Art Hawkins, 87 of Port Arthur passed away at his residence on March 26, 2013 after a short illness. He was born in Port Arthur on October 12, 1925 to Arthur W. and Daphane Hancock Hawkins. Art was a life long resident of this area and was a 40 year employee of DuPont Sabine River Works in Orange, Texas. Art was a faithful member of the Lutheran faith, serving as President, Treasure, Secretary and Council member at St. John's. He was also a member of the Lakeview Lions club and was a veteran of the Army Air-Corp during WWII. Visitation will be held at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home on Friday, March 29, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Graveside funeral service will be on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches with Pastor Richard Turner officiating with burial to follow at Oak Bluff. Art was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Robert A. Simmons. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Betty of Port Arthur and daughter Susan Brown and her husband Ken of Port Arthur and his best friend Fred Brown.
