Raul Joseph Ortiz

Raul Ortiz, 84, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital on Friday, April 12, 2013. He was born on October 6, 1928 to Jose and Leonor Estrello Ortiz in Port Arthur, TX. Raul's occupation was a welder employed at Gulfport Shipyard for 30 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Corporal in the 42nd Armed Infantry Battallion. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie Ortiz; daughter, Shirley Collazo; brother, Bill Ortiz and a grandson, Jason Daigle. He is survived by his son, Johnny Bush of Nederland; daughters, Christina Ruiz of Port Arthur, Dorothy Maddox of Lake Charles, Linda Romero of Port Neches, Sheila Cardenas of Port Arthur, Darlene Daigle of Lufkin; brother, Oscar Ortiz of Beaumont; sisters, Ophelia Ceja of Beaumont; nineteen grandchildren, thirty eight great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, April 15, 2013 at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home from 5-8 PM. with a rosary at 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Rev. T.R. Blanco officiating with interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
