Myrtle Frances Strauss, age 89 of Port Arthur passed away on Monday, April 29, 2013. Myrtle was born on August 28, 1923 to John and Emma Blake Hogan in Port Arthur, TX. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Myrtle Frances enjoyed sewing, painting and cooking. Her heart and home was always open to others. She was active in Braille workshop, ladies societies of Trinity Lutheran, was a Sunday school teacher and was the best mother ever to her three girls. Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Evaline Currie Hogan, husband, Harry Herman Strauss. She is survived by her daughters, Merry Strauss Tillman and husband Jim of Hutto, Texas, Frances Ann Cox and husband James of Port Neches and Evaline Ann Robertson and husband Bobby of Baton Rouge, LA., grandchildren, Virgil Paul Worthington II, James Cox II, Jana Haywood, Tyler Herman Cox, Lindsey Marie Frances Prescott and Jay Tillman, great grandchildren, Hayden Paul Worthington, C. J. Haywood, Jaila Haywood and Jordyn Haywood Visitation will be on Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 3, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Arthur, TX. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family would like to express their thanks to The Rose House and A-Med staff for the loving care given to our mother.
