Melvin Luther Davis, 73, of Nederland, Texas passed away at his home on Sunday, May 26, 2013. Melvin was born on May 21, 1940 to Mary Pauline and Marion Henry Davis in Quanah, Texas. He has been a resident of the area since 1962. Melvin retired from Central Freight Lines as a Truck Driver after 38 years of service. He was affiliated with the Baptist Faith. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 29, 2013 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson with Rev. Patrick Cammarata, officiating. Entombment will follow in Psalms Mausoleum in Greenlawn Memorial Park. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Paula Fay Hipsley, his parents, two sisters, Martha Ann Barnes and her husband J. M. and Mary Jo Gravely, one brother-in-law, Rudolph Livingston. Melvin is survived by his loving wife, Dora Davis of Nederland, Texas, his daughters, Jenny Dennis and husband Danny of Aberdeen, Maryland, Julie Page and husband Alex of Lumberton, Texas, Rebekah Patin and husband Jeremy of Groves, Texas, his son, Timothy Davis and wife Sandy of Palm Bay, Florida, along with 14 grandchildren and 1 Great grandchild. He is also survived by his sister, Jesse Pauline Livingston of Quanah, Texas, two brothers, Marion Don Davis and wife Betty of Bridgeport, Texas and Royce Henry Davis and wife Frances of Willis, Texas as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
