Dorothy Turner Abston, 84, of Groves, Texas passed away at her home on Wednesday, July 3, 2013. She was born on January 12, 1929 to Ramie Corley Turner and Fred Turner in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She has been a resident of the area since 1958. Dorothy retired as a nurse with labor and delivery at St. Mary Hospital after 38 years of service. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 4, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Friday, July 5, 2013 at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves with Dr. Jesse Brannen, Jr. officiating. Entombent will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Kirwyn Fischer, Chris Whiddon, Jeff Whiddon, Zachary Whiddon, Trent Cobb, Collin Cobb and Kyle Fischer. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Magie Lee Sellers and her son-in-law, Keith Fischer. She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Fischer of Groves, Texas, Beverly Whiddon of Port Arthur, Texas, her five grandchildren, Kirwyn Fischer and wife Mary of Porter, Texas, Stephanie Cobb and husband Trent of Port Neches, Texas, Bridgett Cobb and husband Collin of Port Neches, Texas, Chris Whiddon and wife Mary Beth of Beaumont, Texas, Jeff Whiddon and wife Misty of Lake Jackson, along with 13 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Betty Faye Robertson and Clarice Horton both of Cottondale, Alabama, Sarah Ann Rawlins of Tuscaloosa, Alabama along with several nieces and nephews.
