Capt. Charles Ray North of Taylor Landing, Texas expired July 9, 2013 at Harbor Hospice of Beaumont. He is survived by the love of his life for over 60 years Dorothy Ayers North, one son Don L. North (Charlotte) of Hemphill, Texas, 2 granddaughters, Shana Lynn Sanders and Tabitha North of Houston, 2 great granddaughters, Addison and Averi Molton. He is also survived by 1 sister Viola Forrest of DeWitt, Ar. He was born August 17, 1923 to Thomas and Murney North in Arkansas County, Ar., who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by 3 brothers Earl North, Olen North both of Ar. And Ulen North of Stanton, Texas, 2 sisters Ruby Inman of Ar. and Lerene Disreft of California. He was in the Merchant Marines from 1942-1946, joined Gulf Oil in 1946-1977 in various positions with Gulf and retired as Vice President of East Coast Marine Gulf Oil. He was National President of Propeller Club from 1974-1976. He was a 50 year plus Mason in Lodge 1264, Port Arthur, Texas. He was a member of the Shriners-El Mina Temple, Galveston, Texas. He was on the board of A & M Maritime, Galveston. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 11, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM Friday, July 12, 2013 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson with Masonic Rites. Serving as pallbearers will be Vaughn Davis, Bryant Adams, Russell Adams, Ulen North, Tom Doerpinghaus and Joel North with Ed Jacobs and Larry North serving as honorary pallbearers. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. In Lieu of Flowers, Family would like memorial contributions to be made to Harbor Hospice of Beaumont.
