Dorothy Shepherd, born December 18th, 1917 lived her life in Port Arthur, TX. She lived out the latter years of her life at Gulf Coast Health Care Center, after selling her Griffing Park home she and her late husband, Earl, built in 1939. She had a full and happy life with her devoted husband Earl whom went to live with the Lord in August of 1997. She is preceded in death by her brother, Marshall (Joe) Weller, sister Avalon Williams, son Michael Earl Shepherd and niece Debbie Broussard. She was a long time member of the First Christian Church with her brother whom served as a Deacon. She enjoyed dancing, playing the piano and gardening. During her younger years, she was head of the Griffing Park Garden Club and had a beautiful garden of her own. While in school, she was part of many organizations. She was sweetheart of her high school band, the first female drum major of that high school, played several instruments and was part of the Red Hussars dance team. To the end, she was dressed up, made-up and had on her jewelry, not to mention her beautiful smile. She was a friend to many and loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter Susie Hatter, nieces, nephews, grandchildren Reid Shepherd and Bryan Austin and two great grandchildren. Visitation for Dorothy will be held at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home on Saturday, August 10, 2013 from 11am-2pm with a service at 2pm. Graveside interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park will follow the service.
