Doris Joseph "Joe" Gaspard, 91, of Winnie, Texas passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont. He was born on April 23, 1922 to Mary Louise Calahan Gaspard and Emile Gaspard in Kaplan, Louisiana. He has been a resident of the Port Arthur area for over 40 years before moving to Winnie about 25 years ago. Joe retired from Port Drum Iron and Steel as a painter after 34 years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church while in Port Arthur and currently of St. Mary Catholic Church in Fannett. He loved to dance and spend time with his family at Pine Tree Lodge. Visitation will be on Friday, December 13, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:30 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral Service will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, December 14, 2013 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his three brothers, his three sisters, his wife, Annie Mae Hargrave Gaspard, his daughter-in-law, Marilyn Rose Gaspard, his grandson, Justin Kelley and his great grandson Joshua Kilgore. Joe is survived by his daughters, Connie Vara and husband Oscar of Hamshire, Diana Kelley and husband Eugene of Hamshire, his sons, Ray Gaspard and wife Ouida of Warren, Lonnet "Lonnie" Gaspard of Hamshire, 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren along with his sister Eva Auffurth and husband Bud of Port Arthur as well as several nieces and nephews
