Lou Boudoin 81, of Groves passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Lou was born May 9, 1932 in Cecilia, Louisiana to William Broussard and Martha Guidry Broussard. She was a resident of Port Arthur for 49 years and moved to Groves in 1999. She was a devoted mother and loved being a Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. Lou was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Alter Society Group 16 and served as a Eucharist Minister. Lou was very active in charity work since 1973. She was instrumental in getting the first charter in the State of Texas for the Golden Triangle Cajun Assoc., where she served on the executive board for ten years and President until her death. She also served as a board member of the American Heritage Society, CFMA Dance Troop, Cajun French Music Assoc., Les Acadian du Texas and Mardi Gras of Southeast TX. She was a festival coordinator for Cajun Country weekends and organized Gumbo Cook-off. She was chosen to represent the Cajuns of Southeast TX in Austin, TX and Washington DC. She served as a volunteer at the Port Arthur Hospitality Center. Lou was very devoted, active and proud of her Cajun Culture where she received many rewards in serving and donating their proceeds to many local charities. She had a great passion for dancing, traveling and visiting with family and friends. Lou will truly be loved and remembered for all her hard work and compassion for other. Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Boudoin and her son, Robert K. Boudoin. Lou is survived by her daughter, Abby Deaton and husband Jimmy of Groves; son, Mike Boudoin of Nederland TX. Grandchildren; Mark Deaton, Amy Howard, Chad Boudoin, Trent Boudoin, Alec Boudoin and Erin Boudoin, Great Grandchildren: Hayden Howard, Carsyn Howard, Macey Deaton and Mark James Deaton. Also a very special person she loved as a daughter; Suzann Boudoin and a very special friend and dancing partner, Harry Girouard. Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, January 24, 2014 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves, TX. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 10:00 am at Clayton Thompson Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
