Roy Webb of Groves, Texas, passed on to eternal life at home with family on Sunday, February 23, 2014. Roy was born on August 17, 1929, to Sallie and Stephen Webb of Port Arthur, Texas. He was the twelfth child born to his parents and lived most of his life in Groves. He attended First United Methodist Church, Groves, for over fifty years. Roy was a gold card member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen, and he retired as Business Representative of District Council No.2 of Texas after teaching with the union apprentice program for many years. Roy also attended the George Meany School of Labor Studies in Maryland. His hobbies were playing with grand children, telling over and over to anyone who would listen about the score between Nederland and PNG when he played football, jersey 55, in 1948. The score was 71 - 0 for PNG. Roy played golf at the "Pea Patch" and was a long-time member. He was a western movie and book fan, traveled on commercial tours, never tired of visiting with area friends, played dominoes, loved gospel music and telling old jokes. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of 64 years. Also sons, Stephen of Houston, Lee of Webster, Joel of Beaumont and daughter, Lynn (Nick) Huckaby. Grandchildren: Misty and Mike Arnad, Garrett Webb, Charlie and Kristen Huckaby. Great grandchildren: Taylor Cates, Jaycee Collins, Slade and Ava Huckaby, Mason Arnaud. Brother-in-law: Charles Schildknecht and wife, Teri, of Port Neches. Many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Clayton Thompson funeral Home on Saturday, March 1 st. Visitation from 1-2 pm, service at 2 pm with Reverend Beverly Tune of First United Methodist Church and Reverend Ken Miller of Cowboy Church on the Rock officiating. Our family would like to thank our extended family with Compassion Hospice, 2528 Calder, Beaumont, Texas 77005 for the loving care given to our husband and father.
