Rhona Ann Bonin Stansbury is now in the hands of her maker having left our world on March 15, 2014. She was born in St Martinsville, LA. on November 11, 1922, to Felix and Helina Bonin and was the eighth of nine siblings all of whom have passed except for her younger sister Ethel Vizuette. Rhona is predeceased by her husband of 66 years Maurice Albert Stansbury, Sr. Rhona and Al have three children who will continue to love and miss them both. Maurice Albert, Jr. and his wife Dora Stansbury of Hitchcock, TX, Pat Stansbury Estes and her husband Art Estes of Round Rock, TX. and Peggy Stansbury Hanson and her husband Dave Hanson of Bridge City, TX., and have all shared in the care taking of their mother through the last days and share many fond memories of their life with their Mom. All of the grandchildren which include Teresa, Desera, Jimmy, Jennifer, Ali, and Seth, the 9 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren agree that Granny was a loving grandmother and a great cook. Through each generation and for many holiday celebrations and Sunday dinners, she fixed many a fine shrimp and crab gumbo, rump roast and, of course, candied sweet potatoes and her most asked for dish of baked spaghetti and cheese. Upon asking for memories of Rhona, more than a few mentions were made of how she showed her love by feeding her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also known for her many Grannyisms and her ability to laugh at herself for making them. I believe that all who knew her knew she always enjoyed a good laugh during the good times and rough times. Throughout all of their lives, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren felt her love and generosity. Her gifts to all of her family were many and her love for God was unwavering. She will truly be missed and will forever be remembered with loving thoughts. Rhona is also survived by a special lifetime friend, Gloria Lowe. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. A Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 and funeral services will follow at 10:00 AM in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family would like to give a special thanks to Shannon and staff at Gulf Health Care and Altus Hospice for their loving care of Mrs. Stansbury.
