Mary (Martha) Grizzaffi Ellison, 89, of Groves, Texas, formerly of Port Arthur, Texas, died peacefully in her sleep on March 26, 2014 at the Port Arthur Retirement Community Home in Port Arthur, Texas. Visitation will be held at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves, Texas, on Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 12 noon - 2 pm with funeral services following at 2 pm at the funeral home. Rev. J.C. Coon of St. James Catholic Church will be officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland, Texas. Clayton Thompson Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Mary was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Rosario and Lucia Grizzaffi on September 2, 1924. She went to school in Port Arthur, Texas. Mary was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family, especially cooking spaghetti and meatballs for her family and their friends every Sunday. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Rosario and Lucia, her late husband of 35 years, Cleo M. Ellison of Port Arthur, Texas, three brothers Johnny, Pete, and Joseph and a sister Dolly Phillips. Mary is survived by her daughter Lucy Ann (Lynn) Moore, sons Mark (Robin) Ellison and Lindley (Elva) Ellison, seven grandchildren Holly Nowalk, Jamie Melvin, Tyler Ellison, Amber Wilson, Haley Noel, Don Ellison, Jr., and Cassondra Ellison, 7 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Port Arthur Community Retirement Home and Altus Hospice for their unwavering support in Mama's final days.
