Walter L. Williams, 88, formerly of SABINE PASS, TEXAS passed away on May 17, 2014 in Mobile, Alabama surrounded by his family. Walter Lee Williams was born to Lynn and Mae Williams on June 30, 1925 in Orange, Texas. In 1943 he married the love of his life, Lela Mae Williams and in 2008 they celebrated 65 years of marriage. Walter and Lela had to relocate to Grand Bay, Alabama in 2005 after Hurricane Rita destroyed their home in Sabine Pass. Walter spent most of his life on the water shrimping and crabbing. He was known to many as 'King Crab'. He was known as Daddy to his children and Paw-Paw to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Lela Mae, son Kelly and brothers Lynn Williams, Earnest Williams and Edward Williams. He is survived by his daughters Janie and husband Bill Sarver of Grand Bay, Alabama, Betty and husband Charles Adkins of Sabine Pass, Texas, Cathy Cornwall of Huntington Beach, California and adopted daughter Phrung Lewis of Sabine Pass, Texas. There are 5 grandchildren, Travis Adkins, April and husband Chester Bossley, Lela Ann and husband Rebel Warbington, Amber and husband Adam Davis and Brandee Cornwall; 10 great-gandchildren, Chelsea Adkins, Emily Olson, Caleb and Katherine Bossley, Lela Elizabeth and Cooper Warbington, Kaylyn and Joey Saver, Riley and Kendall Davis and his dog, Sparkers. He is also survived by his two sisters, Nellie Williams of Sabine Pass, Texas and Gladys Thompson of Thorndale, Texas and many other nieces and nephews. Walter Williams' services will be conducted by Rev. Horace Vinson, Rev. Rodney Miller and family. Visitation will be at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves, Texas, Saturday May 24, 2014 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm and the funeral will be Sunday May 25, 2014 at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Pall bearers will be Travis Adkins, Rebel Warbington, Chester Bossley, Caleb Bossley, Adam Davis, Sam Garrison, Edward Cooper, Jr. and Kenneth Williams.
