Lawrence (Larry) Babington, Jr. Lawrence (Larry) Babington, Jr. was born April 6Th 1938 in Omaha, Nebraska to Lawrence Franklin Babington, Sr. and Ethel Henrietta Olsen. He passed away Sunday, August 17th 2014 at his home. He was an LVN for over 30 years and worked at hospitals in Port Arthur and Beaumont. Larry had the distinction of being the first male nurse to graduate from Lamar. He served in the U. S. Coast Guard. He is survived by his wife, Andrea (Andy) and daughter, Juliana of Port Arthur, sister-in-laws, Barbara Lagrappe of Bridge City, Laverne Babington of Devils Pocket and Alice (Rock) Robbins of Port Arthur, several nieces and nephews and goddaughter, Zoey Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Richard (Dick) and Daniel (Dan) Babington and nephew, Richard Babington. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:30 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Rev. T. R. Blanco serving as celebrant. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Special Thanks to Altus Hospice, Home Care Innovations Inc., and staff of Baptist Hospital and the Medical Center of Southeast Texas. A very special thanks to his brother-in-law, Robert "Rock" Robbins who took the time to take Larry to his Doctor appointments and never said "no" to any request from his family.
