Barry M. Jackson, age 78 of Groves passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015. He was born in Port Arthur on October 28, 1936 to Anna Bodin Jackson and Joseph Jackson. Barry retired from Gulf Oil after 30 years of service. He was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, National Guard for 10 years, avid golfer, stared in football, baseball, basketball and track at Bishop Byrne High School where he graduated in the class of 1954. Barry was very active in the Knights of Columbus state wide and local. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 1, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with a Vigil Service at 6:00 P.M. followed by the Prayer of The Rosary by the Knights of Columbus at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. with entombment to follow at All Souls Mausoleum in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Barry was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Shirley Jackson the mother of his children, step mother Virginia Jackson, son, Lloyd Jackson and step son Mark Simon, brother, Glenn Jackson. He is survived by his wife Mary Lou Jackson of Groves, sons, Wayne Jackson and Bryan Jackson both of Groves, step son, Robert Simon of Cedar Creek, daughters, Gail Melancon and husband Richard of Groves, Janell Hunter and husband Jimmy of Batson, Angela Stansbury of Nederland, Melanie Roberts and husband Daniel of Port Neches, step daughter Kathy Ricks of Humble, Debbie Williams and husband Dick of Cypress, Cindy Simon of Houston, Michelle Williams and husband Eldon of Groves, brothers, Dale Jackson of Groves and Chris Jackson of Florida, sisters Carolyn Viator of Groves, Sandra Herpin of Corpus Christi and Pamela Romero of Silsbee, 16 grandchildren and 6 great grand children.
