Dexter Vance McCoy, 86, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away at his residence on Saturday, March 7, 2015. Mr. McCoy was born March 6, 1929 to Stella Quillen McCoy and Clarence Wells McCoy in Ravenna, Kentucky. Dexter was a resident of Port Arthur for 84 years. He was boy valedictorian at Thomas Jefferson High School before attending Rice Institute and becoming a mechanical engineer for Texaco. He was the chief mechanical engineer at Texaco Research Center for many years, and enjoyed woodworking projects and watching the Houston Astros. Dexter is survived by his daughter, Pamela Anne McCoy of Monck's Corner, South Carolina; his son, Gregory Vance McCoy of Katy, Texas and 2 grandchildren. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 10 from 6-7 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Clay Faulk, officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Clayton Thompson Funeral Home.
