Helen M. Wilcox

August 7, 1921 - October 12, 2015

In Remembrance Helen M Wilcox, 94, died peacefully at home Monday, October 12, 2015. Mrs. Wilcox was a homemaker until 1979, when she became the Office Manager at Wilcox Veterinary Clinic. She did all the accounting and payroll, by hand, until 2012, when at the age of 91, she retired due to her failing eyesight. She was affectionately known as Maw Maw, not only by her grandchildren, but also by the staff at the Vet Clinic, and many clients. Helen is survived by her 4 children, Fran and son-in-law Adam of Port Acres, Debbie and son-in-law Ray of Groves, Bob and daughter-in-law Rebecca of Port Neches, and Jane and son-in-law Tom of Houston. She was Maw Maw to 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Helen loved her children/grandchildren and they all adored her. She was proud of their many accomplishments and attended all graduations, weddings, birthday parties, awards and other important events. Her husband, Bob Wilcox, predeceased her in 2002 and her favorite Chihuahua companion, Amy, in 2009. Helen was born August 7, 1921 in West, Texas to Tomas and Agnes Plsek. She was working in the Registrar's Office at Texas A&M University when she met and married Bob. After his graduation from Veterinary School in 1943, they moved to Port Arthur where he began his practice. The family would like to thank Nancy Whitsitt and Alice Patronella for taking such loving care of their mom for the past 2 ½ years. In addition, the caregivers of Gentiva Hospice were extraordinary in their compassion and care for her. Visitation will be at Clayton Thompson in Groves, on Thursday, October 15 from 5:00-8:00 pm. A rosary will be prayed Thursday at 6:00 pm, with a funeral Mass at 11:00 am on Friday, October 16 at St Peter Catholic Church in Groves, Texas. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
