Rev. Kelsie Odell Haggard, 91, of Groves, Texas passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on December18, 1923 to Bertha Brownfield Haggard and Carl Haggard in Hoffman, Arkansas. Kelsie was a retired minister of the United Pentecostal Church. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II, where he received the Purple Heart, two bronze stars and the World War II victory medal. He moved here in 2014 to be closer to his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his one sister and four brothers, his son, Dale Haggard, his grandson, Ethan Haggard, his daughter, Cherie Crocker, and his son-in-law, Dennis Collins.
He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, June Ahart Haggard of Groves, Texas, his daughter, Rita Colins of Groves, Texas, his daughter-in-law, Mariam Faye Haggard of Little Rock, Arkansas, his son, Gary Haggard and his wife, Betty of Corning, Arkansas,
his 10 grandchildren, 27 Great grandchildren and 2 Great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Abundant Life Sanctuary Church in Groves from 6 to 7 PM. Funeral Service will be at 7:00 PM at the church with Rev. David Myers officiating. Graveside service with Military Funeral Honors on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 10:15 AM in Houston National Cemetery under the direction of Clayton Thompson.
