Della Mary LaFleur, 93, of Humble, formally of Groves, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2016 at her daughter home.
Della was born on February 23, 1922 in Grand Prairie, Louisiana to parents, Felcian Marie (Soileau) and Arthur Doucet. She descended from French Colonials of the Fort Toulouse, Alabama, they were some of the first settlers of the Opelousas area. She had lived in the Port Arthur and Groves area since 1946. Della was a founding member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church and served on the Altar Society. Della was a lady who loved like no other and will be missed dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James LaFleur; granddaughter, Shena Burke; brothers, Willfrid Doucet and Delta Doucet.
Della is survived by her daughters, Sharlene Vincent and husband, Michael of Groves, Cynthia Wiggins and husband, Thomas Lee of Humble, Donna Hatcher and husband, Allen of Corpus Christi; sister in law, Annalee Pitre of Grand Prairie. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2016 from 5 pm until 8 pm at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, with a rosary to be prayed at 6 pm at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday February 15, 2016 at 10 AM at St Peter Catholic Church, celebrant will be Reverend JC Coon. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
