Ashley Christina Arrington Gantt, 41, departed her earthly life on September 5, 2016.
Ashley was born in Port Arthur on April 17, 1975 to Janelle Toups Arrington and Ronald Arrington. She graduated from Port Neches Groves High School in 1993, attended Lamar State, and worked for Gerald Barras Paint Company in Port Arthur for many years.
On September 3, 2006, Ashley married the love of her life, David Gantt, they resided in Biloxi, Mississippi, and Valdosta, Georgia, while David served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. Ashley blossomed when she met David, taking on new experiences in the great outdoors. On December 4, 2007, Ashley and David were blessed by the birth of their only child, Hunter James Gantt. Following David’s retirement from service, they returned to Groves, and eventually made their home in Silsbee.
Ashley loved horses and country music, and was a true country girl at heart. She enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to the rodeo, and watching football with her two favorite guys, David and Hunter. Her family is what she loved most in life, and as long as they were together, she was happy. Ashley was a loving wife and mother, a precious daughter, sister, granddaughter, and niece, and a best friend.
Ashley was preceded in death by her grandparents, Raymond J. Toups and Audrey Toups, and Troy Reid Arrington.
She is survived by her loving husband of 10 years, David Gantt, and 8 year old son Hunter James Gantt of Silsbee; her parents Ronald and Janelle Arrington of Groves; one brother Troy Arrington of Groves; grandmother Lucille Arrington of Dallas; her beloved great aunt Laura Lee Bourque,aka Nanny,of Beaumont (formerly of Port Arthur); her uncle Merrill Toups of Iowa, and her dearest friend, Carolyn Coffey Devillier of Groves and her many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Kevin Badeaux officiating the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, 5200 39th Street, Groves, Texas 77619.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Good Samaritan Fellowship Christian Homeschool Academy with a Memo denoting School Donation. This is where Hunter will be attending school, and this will be part of her legacy to her precious son.
