Lucy Broussard, 96, passed away Sunday April 2, 2017 at the Rose Place in Port Arthur. She was born October 22, 1920 in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana and was a resident of Port Arthur for the last 70 years. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Altar Society. She became a member of St. Charles Borromeo in 2007. Lucy loved being with family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In her younger years she enjoyed camping, reading, playing bingo, and visiting the casinos.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated April 5, 2017 at 2:00 PM at St Charles Catholic Church with the Reverend Jaison Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Port Arthur under the direction of Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm on April 4, 2017 with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 pm at the funeral home.
Lucy is survived by her daughters Judy Anderson and husband Randy of Nederland, Gail Reese and husband Jay of Nederland, sons Erwin Broussard and wife Linda of Channelview, TX, and Mark Broussard of Channelview, TX. Grandchildren Andrea Knowles and husband Keith, Jeff Reese, April Harris and husband Mike, Monty Broussard, Kenny Broussard, Joshua Broussard and wife Katrina, and 13 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters May Tauzin of Breaux Bridge, LA, Lucille Olivier of Arnaudville, LA and Hilda Zaunbrecher of Breaux Bridge, LA., sister-in-law Marcelle Broussard of Breaux Bridge, LA., and brother-in-law Lee R. Broussard of Lake Providence, LA.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents Saul and Ona Broussard, her husband of 64 years Clarence Broussard, sister Myrtle Fontenot, brother Earl Broussard, and granddaughter Michelle Broussard.
The family would like to thank the Rose Place and especially Kim Ford for the care and compassion given to Lucy the last 7 years. Thanks also to the staff of Heart of Texas Hospice and Gwen Ardoin.
