Mary Melbaline Mondello, 92, of Vidor went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 6, 2017.
Mary was born on July 27, 1924 in Roganville, Texas to parents Elizabeth (Hawthorne) and Uriah Hooks. She served her country in the Women’s Army Corps (WAC) during WWII. She had lived most of her life in Texas and also ten years in Porum, OK. Mary was a beautician for many years and she enjoyed crocheting, canning vegetables, cooking for family and friends, and keeping a clean house. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John A. Mondello Jr. and six siblings.
Those left to cherish Mary’s memory are her children, Pete Mondello and his wife, Jane of Port Arthur, TX, John A Mondello III and his wife, Marie of Labelle, TX, Mary Ellis and her husband, Donald of Vidor, TX, Curtis Mondello and his wife, Susan of Porum, OK; her sisters, Susie Broussard of Groves, TX, Finetta Cochran of Kirbyville, TX. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 2 pm at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, with a visitation from 1 pm until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
Honoring Mary as pallbearers will be Peter Mondello, James Mondello, David Ellis, Michael Baker, Ricky Corbello, Josh Mondello, Andy Michael and Mark Emerson.
