Margaret Merwin Pool, 98, of Sour Lake and former resident of Port Arthur passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Summer Place in Beaumont.
She was born on December 29, 1918 to her parents, Floyd C. Merwin and Vera Ware Merwin in Port Arthur, Texas. Margaret was a lifelong resident of the area. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur, was a loving and devoted homemaker in raising her family with her husband, Robert. Margaret was a member of Park Central Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her three sisters, Dorothy, Helen and Ruth and her husband, Robert F. Pool.
Margaret is survived by her two daughters, Margaret Burns and husband, Jerry of Garland, Texas, Rebecca Ross and husband, David of Edmond, Oklahoma, her son, Robert G. Pool and wife, Nelda of Sour Lake, Texas. Her nine grandchildren are, Charlie Ross and wife, Ivette, Daniel Ross and wife, Vanessa, Bonnie Thornton and husband, Matt, William Ross and wife, Jenn, Pam Pool, Tom Pool and wife, Kris, Karen Crockett and husband, Cliff, Paul Burns and wife, Jodie, John Burns and wife, Kathryn. She also has sixteen great grandchildren, Jon Ross and wife, Stephanie, Catherine Ross, Joel Ross, Trey Solomon, Tennyson Ross, Addie Pool, Ashlyn Pool, Daniel Crockett, Katie Crockett, Ben Crockett, Murray Burns, Wyatt Burns, Jack Burns, Oliver Burns, Davis Burns and Blythe Burns.
Visitation will be on Saturday, July 29, 2017 from 10 AM till 11 AM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Margaret’s life will be at 11: 00 AM Saturday at Clayton Thompson with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
