Mary Lois Baker, 93, of Groves passed away on Friday, August 11, 2017 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas.
Lois was born on January 8, 1924 to parents Stella (Landry) and Garland B. Douglas. She has lived in the Port Arthur and Groves area most of her life. Lois enjoyed playing cards, board games and playing the slot machines. Lois was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend who will be missed dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Robert Baker.
Lois is survived by her sons, Morris Baker and his wife, Elaine of Bridge City, Randal Gerad Baker and his wife, Linda of Orange, James Garland Baker and wife, Janis of Lumberton, cousin, Marian Ducote and her husband, Sidney of Nederland. She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and her companion, Peppy.
A Christian Burial Service on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at 1 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, with a visitation from 12 pm until service time. Celebrant will be Deacon Willie Posey. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
Honoring Lois as pallbearers will be Kyle York, James Baker, Shane Baker, Mike Baker, Bobby Baker and Eric Baker. Honorary pallbearer will be Sidney Ducote.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Dominican Sisters of Houston, Office of Advancement, 6501 Almeda Road, Houston, Texas 77021 or the charity of your choose in the loving memory of Lois Baker.
