Inez Holzapfel, 105, of Port Arthur went to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 10, 2017.
Inez was born on October 8, 1911 in Youngsville, Louisiana to parents Elda (Landry) and Manual Thomasie. She had lived in the Port Arthur area for 96 years and was a active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church; Altar Society for 40 plus years and Eucharistic Minister to the home bounded. Inez enjoyed crocheting, going camping with her husband and praying the rosary every day. Inez was a loving grandmother, great grandmother and friend, who loved spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fritz G. Holzapfel; her two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Martin, Helen Lee Reeves; her twins at birth and her sister, Louise Dubois.
Those left to cherish Inez’s memory are her five granddaughters, Helen Reeves of Groves, Lisa Lege and her husband, Craig of Groves, Debra Sangster and her husband, Robert of Port Neches, Laura Mullins and her husband, Ricky of Nederland, Dana Bartkowiak and her husband, Bart of Nederland and adopted granddaughter, Cindi Durham of Groves. She is also survived by her 11 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren and one on the way.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 13, 2017 from 5 pm until 8 pm at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, with a rosary to be prayed at 7 pm at the funeral home. A 10 am Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 14, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Port Arthur. Celebrant will be Rev. Kevin Badeaux. A burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
Honoring Inez as pallbearers will be her great grandsons, Joshua Lege, Ricky Mullins, Jr., Spencer Sangster, Corey Lege, Steffen Sangster, Austin Sangster, Brendan Mullins, Bryce Bartkowiak and Quentin Bartkowiak.
