Gloria Nessour Haselden

August 23, 1926 - September 10, 2017

Gloria Nessour Haselden was born August 23, 1926 and passed away September 10, 2017. She was the daughter of Capt. Mitchell Nessour and Susie Nessour and the wife of Birch Swinton Haselden for over 50 years. A native of Port Arthur, Gloria was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. She and Birch were the proud parents of five children – Marsha, Mark, Matthew, Melissa, and Michael. While raising her children, Gloria was active in the Travis Elementary PTA and the Altar Society at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where she was a member for many years. In addition to being a loving homemaker, she was a seamstress and sewed for many people in Port Arthur. Gloria eventually earned an Interior Design diploma from LaSalle University and opened The Bath Boutique, initially located on Ninth Avenue in Port Arthur, then in Parkdale Mall in Beaumont. She was a successful business woman.

Gloria’s favorite pastime was working the daily crossword puzzles in the newspapers. She even won a sewing machine as a result of entering a crossword puzzle contest. She was mentally astute until the day she died. Gloria loved to travel and was blessed to visit many places during her life. She was also politically active and met several dignitaries, including Bill and Hillary Clinton. Several years after her husband’s death, Gloria married Paul Gaskin and they resided in Houston, TX until her death. She was a caregiver to Paul during the last few years, and he always said only the angels in heaven knew how much he loved her.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents Mitchell and Susie, siblings Wilmar, Annie, Mercer, and Mercedes, and her husband Birch. She is survived by her husband Paul, children Marsha Molden (John), Mark Haselden (Donna), Matthew Haselden, Melissa Zepeda (Oscar), Michael Haselden (Sandra), sister Betty Stephenson (Bill), and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She will be missed dearly.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 from 7-9 pm at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 1:30 pm at the funeral home .
