James E. Foret Sr., passed away on November 15, 2017 at the age of 82.

He was born on November 14, 1935, the 3rd of 9 children, to Joseph and Bertha Foret. After attending school at Port Neches-Groves, he entered the AirForce in 1955 where he served for 4 years. After serving his country, he returned to be a lifelong resident of Groves along with his wife of 62 years, Nita Adams Foret. He was a father and scoutmaster of two sons, Jimmy and Billy. James retried from Texaco after 26 years of employment as a machinist and he was owner and operator of Foret's Bait and Tackle; he was an avid outdoorsman who always had a good fishing story to share. With all of that, James also made time to be the President of the International Association of Machinists Local 1792. He was always ready for a good political conversation and served as Democratic Precinct 61 Chairman for many years.

James is preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Paul, Bobby, Richard, and Barbara.

Along with his loving wife, James is survived by his sons, Jimmy Foret and wife, Donna of Lumberton, Billy Foret of Groves, his granddaughters, Mandy Thompson and husband, Michael of The Woodlands, Keeli Christiansen of RoundRock, Brittani Foret of Austin, and his grandson, Adam Foret and wife, Kaylee of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He is also survived by 7 great grandsons, 4 siblings, Howard (Unkey) Foret, Theresa Tuohy, Linda Baxter, and Janice Foret, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 17, 2017 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Clayton Thompson. A funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2917 at 10:00 am at the funeral home, with Rev. Scott Wallace officiating. Internment following at Oak Bluff Cemetery in Port Neches.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Harvey Recovery Fund, First Christian Church, Port Arthur, TX. A special thanks to the staff of Village Creek Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Lumberton, TX, and the staff of Kindred Hospice, Beaumont, TX for their compassionate care during his final days.
