Louis Cimino, 86, former resident of Groves and recent resident of Orange passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Golden Age Nursing Home in Welsh, LA.
He was born on September 28, 1931 to his parents, George Cimino and Jennie Gralino Cimino in Port Arthur, Texas. Louis was the last one of the eight Cimino brothers to go to his heavenly reward. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. Louis began his career with Swift in 1953 as a butcher and retired from Quick Serve with over 40 years of service. He was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, where he assisted Msgr. Greig on numerous funeral masses over the years. He was a very sweet and caring man to everyone he encountered over the years, especially his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers and is reunited in heaven with his loving wife, Nelda Cimino, who passed away in July 2017.
Louis is survived by his daughter, Wendy Fontenot and her husband, David from Orange, two grandsons, Kyle Fontenot and Kevin Fontenot both of Orange, numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM with a vigil service to be at 6:30 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Groves with Rev. Msgr. Kenneth Greig, serving as celebrant. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of ClaytonThompson.
