Betty Jean White

September 29, 1932 - January 1, 2018

Betty Jean White, 85, of Groves passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018 at her residence.

She was born on September 29, 1932 to Ernest Earl Irwin and Pauline Davis Irwin in Reklaw, Texas. Betty graduated from Rusk High School. She has been a resident of the area for over 65 years. Betty retired from Jefferson County Precinct #2 Commissioner’s Office as a Secretary with over 20 plus years of service.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alvin Richard White.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Sally Sterling of Groves, her two sons, Gary White and his wife, Debbie of Pollok, Texas, Richard White and his wife, Cindy of Temple, Texas, 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her two brothers, Jack Irwin and his wife, Kathy of Beaumont, John Irwin and his wife,  Ann of Gilmer, Texas along with several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Graveside servce will be at 2:00 PM Friday, January 5, 2018 at Mount Hope Cemetery in Rusk, Texas with Rev. Don Copeland, officiating. Arrangements are under direction of Clayton Thompson Funeral Directors in Groves and Wallace Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk.
