Robert Joseph Monceaux, 81, of Groves passed away on January 6, 2018 at his home.
He was born on March 31, 1936 to his mother, Anaise Bertrand Landry in Abbeville, Louisiana. Robert has been a resident of the area for over 53 years. He retired as a painter after 40 years of service. Robert was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Port Arthur. He enjoyed attending Mardi Gras over the past several years and he took many trophies for his Mardis Gras costumes.
He was preceded in death by his mother, his four siblings, Lena Whittle, Preston Hebert, Ruston Hebert and Ernest Monceaux.
Robert is survived by his lifelong companion, Lucille Thibodeaux of Groves, his daughters, Kara Castillo and husband, Jason of Nederland, Zina Monceaux and wife, Maria of Dallas, Pat Slott and husband, Gary of Groves, sons, Christopher Monceaux of Port Arthur, Paul Thibodeaux and his wife, Wendy of Vinton, LA. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 9:00 AM till 11:00 AM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Robert’s life will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Tuesday in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson with Rev. J. C. Coon, officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Port Arthur.
