Loretta Williams, “Peanut” to some of her oldest friends, passed away Monday, January 8, 2018 at Magnolia Manor in Groves, Texas.
Loretta was born in Port Arthur, Texas October 1, 1935 to Herschel and Carrie Richey. She dedicated her life to teaching French and English starting in Port Arthur, then to Corpus Christi, Flour Bluff, and finally Silsbee. She was a coach’s wife and wore many a football jersey at games all over Texas. She loved her children, grandchildren, the beach, and was an avid reader. She was a lifelong member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Nederland and enjoyed bible study and church. She had a strong faith. Mom had a delightful sense of humor and loved a little taste of Mogen David on occasion. She will be missed by all.
Loretta is preceded in death by her parents, Carrie and Hershel Richey, her husband Wayne Williams, and her daughter Jody Miller.
She is survived by her brother, Duane Williamsen and wife Josephine, children Marcella and husband Scott Anthony, James Shipley and wife Denise, and Richey Shipley. Also left behind are her grandchildren Catherine Shipley, Ryan Shipley, Olivia Shipley, Beau Myrick, Anna Myrick, and Nicholas Wheeler. She also leaves behind five great grandchildren and a niece and nephew.
A 11 AM funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves, with a gathering of family and friends from 10 AM until service time. Entombment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
