Viola Josephine (Jo) Colletti, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away at her home in New Braunfels, Texas on January 15, 2018, at the age of 96. Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on February 24th at Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery, with a Celebration of Jo’s Life to follow at Knights of Columbus Hall (700 Central Drive, Port Neches.)
Jo was raised in and around Quitman, Texas, where she graduated as valedictorian of her class of 5. Afterwards, her family moved to Austin so that she could attend the University of Texas. At the University, she obtained teacher certification and met her husband, Dr. Paul F. Colletti. Jo and Paul were married in 1943, and thereafter made their home in Port Arthur. Paul was a long time dentist and civic leader in the community, and Jo helped him manage his practice for many years prior to the couple’s retirement to their Cow Bayou home in Bridge City. Their loving marriage endured for 64 years. Jo was also recognized for her own active involvement and service to others in church and community affairs in and around Port Arthur. She was particularly well known for her devotion to her family and her warm and welcoming personality, for Jo truly never met a stranger.
As parents, Jo and Paul raised 7 children, one of whom, Sam Colletti, preceded them in death. Jo is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Paula and Ted Moscheau of New Braunfels, Ruthie and David Perkins of New Braunfels, Cathy and P.J. Rodriguez of Coppell, and daughter, Mary Jo Treadway, also of Coppell. Her surviving sons and their spouses are Paul David and Laurie Colletti of Fort Worth and George and Mary Colletti of San Clemente, California. She is further survived by seven granddaughters, three grandsons, eight great grandsons, and three great granddaughters. She is additionally survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and in-laws. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to Hope Hospice (611 N Walnut Ave., New Braunfels, TX 78130 ), any fund dedicated to post hurricane rebuilding in the Golden Triangle, or any other charitable contribution of personal choice.
