Cliffogene "Poochie" Saul, 89, of Port Neches passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Oakridge Assisted Living in Beaumont.
Poochie was born on July 29, 1928 in Durant, Oklahoma to parents Jessie Susan (Tillery) and Nickolas Phelps. She was a Native Chickasaw; her father was a Chickasaw Chief. She was employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 15 years. Poochie and her husband, Herb, owned and operated East Texas Bolt Company in Longview from 1977 until 1983. In 1999, Poochie moved from Longview to Port Neches to be with her son and his family. Poochie was a rock to her son, two nephews, two nieces, their children and everyone close to her in her life. She will always have a very special place in the hearts of those that her life touched. She enjoyed painting ceramics and church activities but her greatest joy in life was being a grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Nickolas and Jessie Phelps, her husband, Herb Saul and sisters, Tommie Lee Moore, Melba Gordon.
Poochie is survived by her son, Jerry Moore and his wife Alice of Port Neches, TX; her three grandchildren, Tommy Lee Moore and his wife, Megan, Brad Moore, Clint Moore and his wife, Calli. She is survived as well by one great-grandson, Tristan Moore. Her survivors also include her nephew, Tom L. Moore and wife, Pam of Meridian, ID; her great niece, Jessica Owens and her husband, Justin, their son, Joshua; as well as her great nephew, Glenn Moore and his wife, Sky and their children, Tyler and Everly. She is also survived by her stepdaughter, Valerie Saul Greave of University Place, WA. Survivors also include nieces Stephanie Gordon and Michell Worthington and one nephew, William Gordon of Longview. She is also survived by her very own special angel Donna Homann as well as by her very large extended Borel family.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 4 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, with a gathering of family and friends from 3 PM until service time. Rev. J. C. Coon will be officiating.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 2 PM at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview.
